Re: Ragazzon - To silence or not to silence
I've had 6 different exhaust setups on my 24V.
Basically there are 2 things:
1. Type of sound
2. Volume of sound.
The type of sound you want (if you are like most here) is not a deep muffled subaru sound but a clear sound where you can here the alfa growl. To get this you need either:
A.) A completely open Ragazzon system with no silencers. This is not advised as the massive bass drone around 1500-2700k makes the exhaust sound broken or off.
B.) An open system with a small 12 inch muffler installed on the mid pipe in the plane of the cars direction (i.e. forewards/back). This is like Big Dog's setup, check his video, nice crystal clear Alfa V6 crackle. It must be a small box though as a large box will just give you subaru bass.
Or C.) If you don't want to make one yourself you can use the unsilenced Ragazzon rear pipes and the small centre silencer from Ragazzon (check alfisti.net) this is a box mounted transverse i.e. left/right on the centre pipe, i.e. after the bend. It is slightly more subaru like but also very good (like a reduced range 8C sound).
It is not too loud. Basically people on the sidewalk up ahead will not turn heads back if you are driving normally. They might if your caning it.
