Re: how fast can i rev???
Everytime you start up your car you're wearing bits down so it's just a question of balance. Getting out of the V6 and into the TS it's taken me a while to get used to not bouncing off the rev limiter. A really painful experience everytime I did it (not often); made me cringe... But sure, up to the red line from time to time is fine so long as you keep the oil topped up and clean. It will do less damage than revving it above 3k when cold.
What about in 5th gear, on the motorways? at 220 - 250kmh I am at 6000 - 6600rpm, which in my opinion is quite high for constant revs, but then again, I know nothing about engines......
I'm not comfy doing that either. That's what I like about the V6, you can do high speed at more relaxed revs. I don't go higher than 180 - 200 kph (around 4500/5000 rpm in the TS, 1000 rpm less in the V6) and only for the last 20 minutes of my journey. I know of too many Alfas (including V6's) that have blown up after excessive high speed motoring (that includes my old 164 V6).
