Re: Veloces of London
Well I'll keep you updated of the verdict but the reason I went to Veloces is because they were offering cheaper than everywhere else services.
In terms of customer service, they took my car and ran me to the nearest tube station which was nice enough (even nicer as it was in a 147 GTA).
In all they quoted me approx 2000 worth of repairs - I asked them to do just the very necessary and it came to 1200 (1270 with a new cd player that i also asked them to do) - with the remaining repairs advised in the next couple of months (bushes etc...)
Main Issues (i.e. instantly noticeable issues)
*Replacement wipers had jet facing the wrong way (smacks of shoddy work)
*Oil leaking regularly on drive (my Dad has reminded me when we got it back, the oil was well OVER the maximum amount on the dipstick - could this be the reason - them overfilling it and surplus spilling out?)
*Faint, but noticeable (as it is my car) scratching around CD area where they replaced the cd unit
Worries Since Service:
*Faint 'bumping' noise when driving slowly coming from passenger side of engine/wheel arch
*Car has since scraped speed bumps twice (this could be due to car requiring replacement bushes??)
*Chucking out tonnes of smoke/steam - though I've seen others complain of this - could be that it wasn't as cold in December as it has been in early Jan?
When I called up straight after the service, a guy there called Hiren was pretty good about it - said I should call back later (I couldn't get it to them straight after) and said things like the wiper blades weren't acceptable and they would sort it..
Whereas the other main guy there Paul (I think?) was far more "well, we'll take a look, it's probably 'this/that/completely normal' - it would have been nice for him to say "we'll take a look but if it is our fault then apologies etc.. etc..".
As I said, I'm keeping an open mind - I've been stitched up once before (I must look like a mug!) when I took my z3 to a Nationwide Autocentre in Sandhurst for an MOT and was quoted over a grand to get the car roadworthy - wasn't willing to accept that so took it to a Kwik-Fit in Reading and they passed it first time!
Sorry to turn this into the other post - but just want to make it totally impartial/ just the facts and I will let you know what the mechanic says on Friday (probably update these boards on the Saturday)
