Re: Veloces of London
Not sure it's going to be that hefty a bill, shocks will be the most I guess, but maybe you don't need them asap? Especially after the heavy bill you had from Veloces. Sump gasket doesn't sound hugely pricey (I could be wrong!) though presume you'll need to refill it fully with oil. To me the brake hose is slapdash, both should have been replaced and that would be my biggest concern. Wrong wiper is just silly from an Alfa specialist. As for the tyre, did they fit it the wrong way round? A good garage should spot that, but overall it just sounds like Veloces rushed the whole job, with no senior mechanic checking the job over before handing it back to the customer. Cheap prices bring people in, and they probably know that any Alfa will need some extra £££ spent on it so that's how they make their money. At least you have had confirmation that all the work they did was needed.
I think you're missing a trick if you don't call Veloces. Don't let them off like that. Call and explain/complain to the owner so they can get their act together so other people don't also get the same level of service. He should thank you for feedback like that, even if it's all negative so he can bust some balls and ensure standards improve. Also, ask them to post FOC new wipers for you, and ask what they can do price-wise on supplying new rear shocks; you can always get them fitted elsewhere.
