Re: Veloces of London
I posted this message on the other thread about Veloces and have just come accross this one.
So i will post my comments here too:
I have read this thread with interest and to be honest with a certain amount of dismay.
I have used the services of Veloces for over 5 years, having bought a 156 and about a year ago a rare 166 3.2 TI from them, and also having had warranty and service work done by them over the years.
In all my dealings over the years, one thing i can say without hesitation, is that they have always been very helpful and knowlegable.
Even though their car prices may be higher than others ( a subject that has been debated quite extensively on this forum!)
I have alawys been offered very good px prices, so i suppose it is a case of swings and roundabouts!!!
Personally i have been happy to pay extra for the peace of mind of warranty and after sales service. In both cases Veloces have never let me down in anyway.
For example, my 166 had an issue with a stiff and sticking clutch, ( about 6 months after purchase) I took it back to Veloces for resolution, and without hesitation or question, i was offered a courtesy car ( a brand news Fiat 500, no less!!), and my car was kept until the problem was completey rectified.
The result was a brand new clutch and a master slave all under warranty, and i had the pleasure of the Fiat for a week ( it is a great little car by the way!)
Another more recent example was last Saturday when my other alfa, the 156, suddenly started to misfire badly. The dreaded Motor Management light was flashing like a Christmas tree, and the car was spluttering and in drive safe mode.
I reckoned the issue was a coil in one of the cylinders having gone, as i had this same issue and symptoms about 6 months ago.
I called a number of local dealers and specialists near me in Datchet with no luck at all. I called Veloces to find to my releif they had a few in stock.
Immeaditely i drove rather gingerly on the M25 ( 70 mile round trip!)to Veloces. I was glad to be greeted by both Paul and Hiren, who took my car in for inspection.
after a few minutes the diagnosis was one coil gone and the other on its way out!!. Hiren showed me both the offending coils, before replacing them with the new ones. it was not neccesaary but i thought it was a nice touch.
i went to the office for a complimentary coffee, after 20 minutes i went outside to have a look at proceedings, to discover a technician fiddling in my boot with a couple of wires in his hand.
He told me that he had noticed that my airbag warning light was on, and he was taking a look at the connectors as they can be the cause of the problem.
I was more than happy with this pro-active attitude to customer service, and especially as he managed to fix the problem in about 5 minutes. i had been fobbed off so many times in the past by other so called specialists, i had given up with it.
I was even more pleased with the bill, which was only for the price of the 2 coils ( cheaper than the quote i had got from a couple of dealers!)...the labour even thouh only half an hour was free!!
Now I cannot speak for the others that seem to have had issues with Veloces, but i can say that i have been extremely satisfied with the service i have got from Paul and the team, in the past and in this case, last weekend!!
All I can sugesst is for those with problems, is to talk directly with Paul, he is a reasonable and fair man
