Re: DIY Cambelt change on V6?
i would hurry up if i were you, you really are well over on the time limit and this does count just as well as mileage.
i had a fiat coupe 16VT with 33k on it 5.5 years old i knew the belt was due, was going to do it but it snapped first.
i was going to take the same route as you and was slightly concerned as you are, but in the end had to rebuild my head instead. then refitting the new belt from scratch including balancer shaft belt.
i borrowed a book from a mechanic friend of a friend of mine that covers all belts from all cars, i could not have done it without this but gather as much information as you can from as many sources as you can.
i did mine on my 147 recently without camlocks because i thought i was clever, it took me about 40 minutes to put the actual belt on correctly so i would not recommend doing that.
i am no mechanic but done belts on.

to loosen the crank bolt you need to stop the engine turning by jamming the teeth that the starter motor uses to turn the engine over. usually a small cover where engine meets gearbox. then a long wrench maybe with extension bar onto crank bolt.
