Re: Boot rack advice for Spider/ Vacu-Rak
My advice would be to take less stuff. Even if you got the luggage rack, you wouldn't be able to leave luggage on there unless you were in the car - what if you decide to park up and walk up a mountain or something ?
We did a big trip all over Europe in the Spider last year, (and my Mrs carries a hell of a lot of clothes). With some careful packing of the internal luggage compartment, and some clever use of the limited bootspace, we were JUST able to get everything in, without resorting to an external rack.
Doing a similar trip again this year (5 - 7k miles, 3.5 weeks) and will just pack light again. It's actually pretty amazing what you can stuff inside a spider when you need to. We didn't even have anything stuffed behind the seats, because most of the journey was roof-down and we didn't want stuff blowing away (esp on the autobahn @ 140 heh). With trips like these, there's always a big temptation to take loads of crap that you'll never actually use.
