Hi everyone and happy New Year!
I'm currently an Alfa virgin but I've fallen for the GTV 3.0 in a big way and I'm desperate to get my hands on one. I've been trawling the internet for a while now, doing some homework (but mainly just looking at the pretty pictures
) and have now find a likely candidate...
The only thing that's putting me off now is the possibility of bankrupting myself as the high ownership costs involved with these cars seems to be a recurring theme. Don't get me wrong - I'm under no illusion that owning an Alfa will be a cheap and troublefree experience - but I guess my question is this: how expensive is expensive?
Realise this is similar to asking the length of a piece of string but can anyone give me a rough idea of what I could expect to fork out over the course of, say, a year on routine maintenance stuff?
To fill you in, the car in question is a 2001 3.0 with about 45k on the clock. The cambelt's been done and the suspension and clutch already replaced (as I understand it these are the big jobs). It will be my only car but as I cycle to work it won't be used too heavily during the week and I reckon I'll do less than 9 or 10k a year. Any help or advice anyone can offer would be gratefully received.
The other option, of course, is to dump my girlfriend, move back home to live rent-free and spend as much money as I like on a car!
