Having identified a U1600 immobiliser aerial code after the car failed to start I searched and found this thread. With a little scepticism I adjusted the steering column height and turned the key... CODE light out, engine started - yippee! Turned off and tried again - CODE light back on, no start. Turned ignition on and off a few (6 or7?) times until light went out and it then started.
I'll remove the cowl & look at the wiring. If it is affected by moving the steering then presumably it is a physical problem with the wires rather than failure of the aerial? However, quite prepared to replace the aerial assuming it is not too expensive. Can anyone say how much & is it diy-able?
Thanks for this thread - I'm at least 50% relieved!
