Hi to you all
As a newbie to alfas and this forum, I wonder if some of you experts out there might give me some help.
I recently bought a GTV V6 24v which is great but it needed a bit of work to sort it out. Most pressing issue was an oil leak that had spread oil over the auxiliary and cambelts. When I bought it, it seemed to have a problem with cooling at low speeds and in traffic and I suspect the belt was slipping on the water pump so that water was not getting pumped round efficiently. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I have dismantled the front of the engine, replaced the crankshaft oil seals and the camshaft oil seals and the pump too. I am now just putting it all back together with new belts and tensioners.
Could anyone tell me which way the engine turns as you look at it from the front (side). I am assuming that I need to get the piston to TDC on the compression stroke to time it properly against the cams (which are locked with cam blocks). I think it turns clockwise but if so that means that the water pump turns clockwise too and it just seemed to me, given the shape of the veins on the water pump, that it ought to go in an anticlockwise direction.
Are there any other hints or tips that you could pass on
I love the engine - just a bit difficult to get around it!!
Any thoughts much appreciated
