Finally success.......... well, 98% (Engine Management light still on)
So, an update. I took the head back off, and got it vacuum tested. The valves did need to be machined back into the seats, so I got this done.
But, the main problem was the hydraulic tappets. In the end, I needed 6 new ones, and the other's had to have the oil released from them. It seems that the pistons within the tappets can expand whilst they are on the bench, and when you put the head back together, the tappets are already holding the valves open. (if this makes sense).
So she is back together (eventually) and running fine. Thanks to everyone for all the help and input.
Only one last problem, the engine management light is still on??? Why should this still be on?
