1st week of ownership & my spider has bitten back...
Pulled off drive other morning but had to stop again in my road due to ice on w/screen. Hopped out to scrape ice off leaving engine running & fan on full...but as door shut my dicky central locking fired & locked the door
The car only came with one key!!
After much swearing & some pain I regained entry... but now I need some advice on ensuring it doesn't happen again.
1st I need to get a spare transponder key cut - rang a local automotive key cutting place today & they said a '96 Alfa transponder key was no prob - they could cut & programme it from my normal key (I don't have master key either).
Has anyone had this done? Sound feasible? What kind of price should I expect? (I saw a blank transponder key [copy of an alfa key, not original alfa key] on ebay for £11, so guessing it should be ok)
2nd I need to fix my dicky lock - lock button will not come fully up, so sits on verge of locking all the time + actual lock barrel on outside of door is loose & wobbly.
According to other threads, this is usually due to bowden cable being snagged/mis-routed between interior door handle & the lock itself. I've found the door card removal instructions, so guess I'll get in there & see. But any advice welcome??
