Re: Help me, I'm thinking of throwing in the towel!
from my perspective, i would keep it.
got offered a company car....or cash, this time last year.
had my eye on a couple of cars, which with a wee top up from me, was seriously considering (peugot 407 cuope, audi 3 sport..... all sorts....new, covered and serviced....no hassles).
don't really know much about cars, and never really been into them to be honest, but by chance, just as i was about to click the button on a brand new car purchase , i chance upon my car.....1999 2.0 ts.
read a wee bit about it, repair wise, and bought it after a test drive in feb this year.....
first thing to do was cam belt etc...full works....with full service: bits n bobs added (bushes etc)...950 quid.....but now i don't have to worry about that for probably another 5 years.
1) new radiator, which i had the seller pay for, because i was funming!
2) new leather interior, 400 quid fiited, plus 90 quid for refurb of front seat.
3) new battery 85 quid. it was interestingly the original battery that came out of it!
4) new aerial, 50 quid.
5) paintwork touch up, 70 quid.
i know that i will need new tyres next year (well, 1 new tyre, but i want them all to match!).
also cosidering other stuff too.
the point is that its a good idea to have a second hand car, as against payments towards new...(im getting that 350 quid per month in my account, instead of towards a car lease), i think it makes sense......and it is MY car!
i think you should keep it, and anjoy it for what it is. even the cost side is part of the ownership, and i think we would all agree on that.
