New member here – been lurking for a while, reading and learning a lot!
Thought it was about time I popped up to the surface with a question. Even though I feel that my knowledge of the GTV has grown considerably since starting to read this forum( the wealth of information here is huge!), I would really appreciate at bit of “bespoke” advice/opinions.
I´m currently looking at a rather high mileage (km´s actually) 1995 GTV 2.0 TS, and really having a hard time figuring out if I should just run away or give it a chance.
Here's the situation:
1995 GTV 2.0 TS with 250.000 km on it. ← this is the scary part!
It has a full service history – and the last five years (since 2003) has been serviced at the dealership/garage that has it for sale by their certified alfa/fiat technician. So they “know” the car.
Previous owner was a doctor if that helps ?
The price is decent enough for my area, but there isn't really a lot otherwise to choose from.
They are willing to give me 3-6 months 100% guaranty (under negotiation) also covering labour on any engine/mechanical/suspension etc. problems that should arise within this time.
Cosmetically it´s seems ok – only thing I really noticed was that the driver side seat has a rip on it´s “shoulder” (got the feeling somebody had tried to stuff something into the back seat and it got caught)
I currently don't drive as much as I would like (around 10-12000km/year)...that may change though if I get this...
I´ll probably go and take a closer look sometime next week ,and take it for a spin etc., but would really appreciate any opinions or advice from members before hand.
One thing that has been on my mind is with so much mileage, some of the things that do go wrong with gtv´s should have been fixed by now..
So...sorry for the long post, but what do you think? - am I crazy even considering it?
