Have just got Spider back from a smash repairers after a job involving drivers side rear panel and drivers door, I suspect that door has been refitted and door card etc would have been removed.
Very happy with job except for one issue, central locking, I have the following symptoms:
- When manually using key in drivers door I am able to lock and unlock both doors.
- When using fob the door pins bounce down and up, thus the vehicle is alarmed but not locked. (and alarm sounds when I open door without disarming).
So far I have tried the often suggested tip of manually locking and unlocking both doors then trying fob, no joy.
I have also checked both doors, bonnet and boot/trunk for proper closure, all secure.
The fact that the doors are locking and unlocking manually would suggest that everything is connected up properly, do you agree?
The fact that the alarm is arming would suggest that alarm is functioning properly, do you agree?
Am thinking that maybe Bowden cable within door may be out of position but if this was the case would it still lock manually?
Battery may have been disconnected, or as I type I am thinking is it possible that door wiring was disconnected and then reconnected thus the locking is out of sync....just guessing here trying to think laterally.
Obviously I can just put this into the too hard basket and return vehicle to smash repairers but that is a time and logistic hassle for me plus I have been without the vehicle for a few weeks and am not keen to lose again for a few days so any advice offered would be appreciated.
A little long winded I fear but have tried to present all known facts.
Thanks in advance.
