Hi Guys,

I've have thought that MAK Variante alloys are perfect for the 916 Spider ever since seeing Gold's car and over the last two pages there have been a few more Spiders with them. Do all you guys with them run 18s? I currently have 16 inch Alfa Alloys and the ride is fairly good. How bad / how much worse will it be with the 18s? I know a few people on here must run on 18s. The other option I'm considering is a set of Alfa 17s like supersports etc...

For the Variantes (or 18s in general), do they need spaces / different bolts or any other changes to allow them to fit??

Sorry for hijacking the thread but I didn't think it worth a new one as these wheels were being talked about here...!

Finally, anyone know the best place to get them for supply to the UK? I have only seen them on EBay italia so far!

Just shopped some Advan Racing RG's under my Spider. I think they look incredible!
Too bad they're so bloody expensive (2500 euro per set )

Oh and CluffStarr.. The 17" alfa wheels will be your best bet for ride quality/comfort.. But I'm willing to compromise for bigger wheels.. just looks pimp

I find my folks spider on 18s is a back breaker of a ride for long distance, being lowered on apex springs on B6 bilstein shocks though.

I much prefer te ride quality from my gtv on 17s with coilovers.

Guys, cheers for the info / responses to my little query further up - seems like 17s might be the way forward (for me...). I'm looking at what I've found termed horseshoe alloys (with seven U shaped rings). They were available on the 159 and Brera I think and I've found some at a reasonable cost. Does anyone have a picture of a 916 with these wheels fitted?

Cheers, Cluffstarr

Hi again Anthperry, you could of washed the car before taking its picture !!! Thats one stunning GTV. Did you fit the wheels ? if so can you recommend a supplier and were they hard to get the fitment right ? The car sits well are you still running standard suspension ??

Sorry for all the questions lol

Id like to say yep, all the work is down to me...unfortunately this is how I bought the car. Apart from a center console refurb, and a pending change to leather, Im happy with how it is....but feel free to offer suggestions!

Cluffstarr,

About the Variantes...there are, if you'll pardon the pun, several different variants. The Hyper Chrome is the one you want I believe. They have the correct offset to go right on a GTV. Sorry to say, but I think you'll have a hard time finding these as MAK don't have them in stock on their web site. There are other ones which have a different offset like (I think) the Hyper Silver Mirror. These can probably be fitted, but would need faffing. I would confirm with the company though or somebody who knows more about this. The ones on my car were ordered special through rimstyle.co.uk.

In regards to 17", 18", I have 18" but have never driven my GTV on smaller tyres, so can't compare. I was fearing the ride before I got the car, but it's fine. Suspension is in top shape, which helps. Hope that helps.

Finally got the GTA wheels fitted and got some decent photos. I always think the GTA 17" wheels look a lot larger than they are.
