Why change the tyre profile? Surely it's better to stick with the manufacturers...?
Because by reducing the circumference of the wheel you improve the gear ratios lower down. You may lose a little top end but your accelleration wil improve. Lets face it, thats where you drive.

Tried to fit my wheels from my 166 onto my gtv. They turned out to be a bit to big with 235/45/18" as they rubbed. Will have to get some 225/35/18" for the GTV when I get my FL 166 wheels back from recond.

I didn't think 166s had the same hub pcd as the GTV? - also thought 225/40 R18 was the 166 tyre size, same as the GTV?

phil-gtv6 you're right there, the GTV is 5/98pcd compare to the 166's 5/108pcd. I had my wheel hubs on the 166 drilled/tapped to 5/98pcd to accomodate the 18" GT wheels. I'm still able to fit the standard wheels. Both uses the same size tyre 225/40/18.

Yeah thats correct, 166 5x108 and GTV 5x98. It helps a bit the wheels are adapter ones, I have adapters with both PCD's and the wheel itself is 5x112. My 166 has 235/45/18 as standard.

Has anyone fitted these? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:ITthey look similar to BBS CH's except dished a little.

Wheel details are 8 J X 18" 5X98 ET35, I dont know what that means, anyone know by looking at these numbers if they will fit nicely and not pertruding the wheel arches?

Yeah I quite like those. Think they should fit being 18" (Just) but have to ask someone else.

They will fit perfect, 225/40ZR18 tyres, no fouling etc. Nice set of wheels, they would realy suit a Gtv.

Here is my set-up for anyone that interested...

Front : 19x8 Et35 with 15mm hubcentric spacers 225/35/19
Rear : 19x9.5 Et35 with 15mm hubcentric spacers 265/30/19

I had to put the spacers on the front to clear the brembo calipers and on the rear to fill the arches out as much as possible. I have a wheel-arch rolling tool which rolled the rear arches for the required clearance, there's a lot of space in the rear arches, if I reduced the spacer size I could put wider tyres on, may give it a go when these run-out. Think you can see my pics on my profile now, cheers
