Re: Gtv Rims Wheels

Hey Guys

I just wanted to ask a qs.

If I put 18'' wheels on my spider (2001 model) would I need to modify the suspension ? (like get it lowered?)

I know its a stupid qs but Ive got no idea.

Thanks

Why would you need to get it lowered ? I dont think so its low enough as it is. But Its up to you really if you want extra performance / handling etc.

Re: Gtv Rims Wheels

Well I dont know have to ask the technical guys they come on in the UK in about 6 hours. But I wouldnt think you would have to. It will change all your speedo and tacho settings I think but nothing to worry about if you wanted to do it.

I have lowered cars before and its not very comfortable. Of course the handling is better but you can hardly drive over any normal roads as the car will be so low. Also the Gtv / Spider is already very low as it is.

Hey, In my opinion I would lower it. I got the lowest of all low Eibachi Suspension installed and 18" wheels. There was a little bit under the rear wheel arch that connected the rear bumper to the body of the car that rubbed but i just tapped it up with a hammer and all good. I think the ride height would be too high if you put 18s straight on (but still look better than 16s anyway lol) I wouldnt worry about changing the speedo I think mines out now by about 1kph.
Also I think this is by far the longest thread I have ever started, usually i get 2 replies and theyre people saying im an idiot haha!
AWSOME!

Re: Gtv Rims Wheels

If you go 18" fit 225/35zr18 tyres and you wont have any fouling problem's, if you drop it 30mm max should be o.k but your osteopath will put you on his Christmas card list.

Why not fit 225/40r18?

- it's a correct tyre size for the GTV that many use and the ride won't suffer too much, 225/35 would be a nightmare.

+ for what it's worth, imo an unlowered GTV looks better on 17s than 18".
But if lowered then 18" look superb.
