Well Happy cleaning the engine

i've just bought a black gtv v6. the car is in mint condition but i want to clean the engine. it's not looking dirty but i've seen other pics of shiney engines. i want it to finish it off.
whats the best way to go about it.

I would recommend standard metal polish for the chrome and Tesco/ASDA/Morrison's All Purpose cleaner for the plastics. Hose gentle afterwards

I did mine at the weekend. I recommend Autoglym engine and machine cleaner for breaking down the gunge. I used a household stainless steel cleaner for the pipework.

I sprayed all the plastics with silicon lube after, see here;
