Re: Xenon bulbs for GTV's?
Were Saab not pioneers of HID? I say that because I remember a few years ago seeing something about lighting which Saab were developing. I seem to remember the mention of more light towards the ultra-violet part of the spectrum, and because it is on a longer wavelength, it travels further and picks out reflective stuff like white lines a a distance much better than a traditional halogen shielded tungsten bulb. I think then, if that is the case, it somewhat contadicts what v6junky posted.
I think the aftermarket kits tend not to have the arc focused quite as accurately as the bulb filament would be, and this causes the stray rays and dazzle. Because it is not focused accrately in the parabolic reflector then the light will not travel as far either, which is perhaps whe reason it has been stated the light doesn't travel so far.
Obviously this is not my job, but merely an area of interest to me. Could you correct my errors and expand on this further?
BTW, HB3 and HB4 are slightly different. I think it is something to do with the multi-plug fitment.
