Another heater thread... Weird noise and fogging windows
Spent most of the morning searching through old threads with most related keywords I can think of, but still havent really turned up what I am searching for?
Have started to drive my GTV recently after looking at it sit outside and do only 700 miles in the last year!! Anyway, I have noticed a few things with the heater.....
It seems to work at all settings and thats not a problem, but when I switch from speed 1 -2, I can hear a strong vibration and also, I can feel it when stopped in traffic, coming through the brake pedal! I assume by this that the fan is located inside the footwell somewhere?? I recently had to replace the fan on my 166 and it was in the engine compartment and a right ***** to get at too!!!
When I go to speeds 3 and 4, the vibration is still there, but not as intense. Its almost like the faster it goes, the more it helps the balance issue. Would this be a dirty fan thats off balance or a bearing going in the fan??
The other thing I noticed while messing about with it, and also in this crap weather we are having, is that even with the fan blowing on 2 or 3 up to the windscreen, it seems to be constantly fogging up and the side door windows also. Its like the system is on recirculate, so I have tried messing about with the recirc button and as there is no indicator, I dont know if its doing anything, but it certainly doesnt seem to make any difference, especially if the car is ticking over and I listen and press the button in or out.
So, has anybody had either of these issues and where do I start to find out the problem(s)? By the way, there is no aircon and its a Ph1 1996 Twinnie
