GTV V6 3.0 24V Water leak - pump change?
i have recently bought my dream car, a 1999 GTV 3.0 24V here in Australia. It has a FSH but recently it decided to cook itself during driving through traffic. I fitted a new thermostat and that seemed to work ok but randomly one morning, it lost all of its cooland overnight.
After tests i did with the car, when it is cool, the water drips heavily out behind the water pump pulley. There are some drops from the radiator tanks too, which may be the o-rings being damaged by the heat.
I have ordered a new water pump and intend to change it myself, however i have been looking at pics of the V6 water pump and it looks like you need to remove the timing belt to change it!!
Is this true? Do you need to remove the timing belt to remove the water pump? Is this possible with the engine in position or do you need to drop a RHS of the engine a little?
Are there any other tips that i may need? I know i need a metal impeller pump so i have ordered one.
Please help a new Alfa owner in need!!
