do you need to open the engine or can you keep everything closed and just use marks on the poulies?

I think the rocker cover has to come off for any cam belt change.

Look at the alfaworkshop site, it does really good guides for most things and they are really top people to deal with!

Also do a search on here, there are many threads relating to this job. You will need to lock the cams in position using special tool (cam locking blocks) whhich i think are about £90. Using the marks alone is not acurate enough and your timing will go out.

It is also recomended that you do the water pump at the same time.
