Re: low running temp
Due to the sheer amount of discussion over this I took a look at mine at the weekend. I removed it from the housing (it was completely closed) and plunged it into a pan of boiling water and it compressed fine. I then took it out and it very slowly returned to it's original state, "very" being the operative word. So possibly a fault regarding closing up again, but...
...you see, my engine warms up fine (around 5-8mins) - the heating kicks in OK, and upon starting from cold, and holding the coolant pipe from the thermostat, I feel hot water starting to run through at around 85C. My fuel economy is more or less what Alfa suggest and the cooling fan keeps the temperature from going over 90-92C.
But I also have around town temps of 90C and open road temps of 75-80C. Considering everything from cooling to fuel economy is fine I'm wondering if it's worth pursuing the "problem".
With reliability will ultimately come monotony.....
