err... Yes The Big Dog... its a good job and dosent let water in.. when i was there there was a cue of MG's rear screens waiting to be changed. But they are a difficult job as you have to remove the complete roof.. good job we have spiders
But I don't like where it says 'This section is provided with a complete zip (both halves) as the original zip will not mesh with the replacement part.'. Seems to make it harder than it needs to be Oh, and they spelled 'Spider' incorrectly.
I replaced my rear window recently got it from FREE DOMAIN NAMES they are based down london way but delivery is free it fitted perfect and they even gave me name and telephone number of someone local who whould fit it for me if i needed. it did cost £200 though, if you enquired about local stockist near you and you could go direct and ask them about repairing your own may be chaeaper, they are very helpfull at the warehouse
Spoke to a dealer in Glasgow (Kelvin Soft Top Trimming & Upholstery Co). Quoted me £575 for a new hood and rear window supplied and fitted (forgot to ask if it was including VAT). Think I'll keep searching.
Can anyone say how good a job Preston Car Trim did on their window please? I phoned them and it sounds like they know their onions and can do it mail order (thanks to the zip!) and all for the £60 mark - I have also been quoted £180 by someone local, and I have seen those on the bay the wrong side of a ton. So PCT sounds too good to be true, unless anyone can vouch for the quality. It would be great if anyone has a picture or two...
Yes They used good quality plastic and very efficient and just stitched in the new screen into the original fabric. As i live near i just unzipped the screen and unscrewed the bottom bolts and left it with them. They are a small outfit, nice guys and just to 'window repairs'
Cheers Nigel, thanks a lot it's a great help. Just wondering how to keep the weather out whilst it's at the menders!! I spoke to a very friendly chap on the phone, says they've got upholstery work coming out of their ears!
I'll post pics when it's done, can't wait to have the experience of being able to see the objects behind the car before I crash into them!
