Re: 2001 spider hood
If the hood cover electic motor is whirling (or just not working) and the back cover freezing, then the:
1st stage fix is the hammer on the motor, as it is trying to operate (best operated via manual switch),
2nd stage fix is remove motor, strip the motor, take out the plastic gear wheel. This will most likely have one quadrant of it with tooth damage due to wear by the metal worm gear. Remove the large plastic gear wheel and after cleaning it replace it 180 degree arounds. Such that the undamaged teeth are on the opposite side of the gear wheel are now mating with the worm gear.
This should recover the motor for a few years at least.
