3 second delay in throttle response/ kangarooing in first
Thought I'd just stick yesterday's experience up on here just in case it helps anyone else out.
Got a 99 3.0 V6 GTV that has had issues with the power falling off after 5(ish)k revs, and kangarooed a lot in first until the engine warmed up.
I came on here for advice and was told that it was probably the MAF failing. I have had a new one on order for a week or so to try and fix the problem, and was looking forward to getting it replaced so I could see what the car SHOULD go like!
Yesterday however, pulling into my road, all power dropped away, with a delay in the throttle of about 3 seconds before the engine started to wind up. The injector lights came on, and I summarily had limp it the rest of the way down the street.
Turns out that the ECU connector (passenger footwell) had come slightly loose (probably done when new stereo was fitted recently as its in the same area), and causing the problem. Gave it a quick squeeze together, and hey presto - all power resumed.
Just thought it might be a good thing for people to check first, rather than spending lots of money on a new MAF straight away.
I do still need the new MAF, which I am getting today, as the flat spot at the top of the rev range is still there - but the first gear/cold start problems have all gone now. <--- happy bunny.
Got a Ragazzon centre and back section, and BMC CDA being fitted today at 2pm - will let you know later what I think lol, if I can prise myself out of the damn car for 10 mins!
