yeah i reckon ive caused somthing, the wiring is a bit ' italian ' as in the power lead has red and green/red , so i plugged in the red to red and the green to green/red from the aerial, i might have bee tricked and got it wrong way around.
Also do you think if i screw the earth lead onto the aerial shaft, that would be a suitable earth? the original had an earth strap and a bolt, new aerial earths thru a crappy saw tooth clamp on the aerial to the bodywork.
I did get a dmm and some extra blade fuses, so ill check juice then if i can find the main fuse box, ill check them....know where they are??
You'll find the main fuses sort of under the dash on the drivers side, it has a sort of pull down lever. However there are other fuses scattered around.... It may be an idea to buy a electronic manual from eBay, they are only about a fiver. I have one, it's in DVD format and my computer doesn't have a DVD reader so can't look it up for you. Must get around to buying a Reader/Writer !
According to the drivers manual the fuse is a 7.5 A ( brown ) in the main box, I've marked in on the pic. This fuse supplies Aerial, Front Ceiling Light, Luggage Compartment light, Instrument Panel and Door Lock Remote Control, there be a clue there to help you !
The aerial ' rod ' itself will not make a good earth, if it did you wouldn't have any reception, it would be like shorting the aerial plug together, so you will have to look at another way of doing it, self tappers and soldering iron to hand !
Good Luck !
the Yellow Fuse I marked, it's the BROWN
one immediately below, sorrow, old age and poverty.......
