I've owned the exact model of Saab you're considering and I have to agree, the Alfa is the real head turner of the two. Worth mentioning, though, that the Saab will almost never go wrong, trim is more sturdy and you'll get upwards of 35mpg cruising at 65-70mph, and up to around 550 miles per tank. While it's better looking, and in my opinion a better car, with the best will in the world you won't get higher than about 31mpg in the Alfa. Parts for the Saab are also readily available and very cheap.
