Help Spider Electric hood disaster

Ive had the car from new and not had the hood serviced in any way. Yesterday, when lowering the roof, the frame creaked and then the bottom metal part of the frame where it sits on the bodywork bent and shot out the side of the hood. I now have a slightly bent frame and an 8 inch tear on my lovely hood. I imagine this is going to be frighteningly expensive. Does anyone have any experience of this and can hoods be repaired with new panels?

Re: Spider Electric hood disaster

A bump and a request for help. A similar thing has happened to me - my girlfriend was "helping" me lower the roof at the weekend - she somehow pushed it much more quickly than I did and away from her (on the passenger side) at the same time. As a result, the roof corkscrewed into its recess with pretty much the same result, although in my case, the frame hasn't (yet) poked its way through the side of the hood. What has happened is that the part of the frame that forms the seal immediately behind the driver's side B-pillar has been bent upwards and outwards by a couple of inches in each direction.

I've tried pushing it back into place but it's no-go - presumably a roof-off job (as I'm wary of damaging the roof elsewhere by trying to do it in situ) and quite a bit of leverage / brute force. Has this happened to anyone else and any idea of the worst case scenario? Will try to post pics later on, if that would be useful.

As I final moan, I've spent a fortune getting it 100% sorted and am absolutely gutted that on the first long journey it's been on since, it's been b*ggered up again. Am definitely starting to feel that the bloody thing is jinxed.
