Am I offering too little for this car?
Hi, I'm a bit of a newbie here, so any assistance would be greatly appreciated. The first Alfa I've looked at is the one I particularly like - but I thought it was overpriced. Also, it was on ebay, and the guy didn't want to barter when I got to his place and viewed it.
Here's the details... 1997 R plate, Spider TS
FSH, recent cam belt + variators, £1100 other stuff in last 12 months, did see the bills - looked ok.
Good looking in and out, but with these problems:
Stated by seller:
alarm disconnected by auto-electrican due to fault.
crack in back plastic window.
Gleaned by myself:
no master key.
back two tyres not matching, one of them illegal.
front two tyres different again. but legal.
no insurance ( so cant test drive w/o temporary cover at £20.)
exhaust - small front box (middle of car lengthwise) seemed to have outer cover hanging off rust, silencer not blowing.
back box similar.
very front undereath nose of the car, sheet metal cover corroded to look at.
sump area looked wet/moist but not dripping it seemed.
no other apparent problems.
the guy had a price in the window - £2500
on ebay, a reserve (it turned out) of £1800
but the auction finished w/o anyone winning.
called him today, no offers, and he wants it gone before tomorrow night or it's a sorn.
so, any opinions welcome - advice whatever.
i think i might offer £1400 - judging the costs of the above problems.
Am i offering too little, or too much? thanks in advance.
