Because its cool too!! haha
How did you mount the second LCD?
1 screen is the DVD player and the second is bolted with a L shape bracket on top of the dash, pretty basic but looks good... I want to custom make the center console by removing the airvents and installing he LCD in there then paint the whole console silver... But its alot of work so havent got around to doing it yet..

Re: Anyone Had A Speaker Upgrade Gtv?

The first thing to do with regard to the stereo-sound of a GTV (mine being a '99 version) is to plug the holes around the speakers in front and rear.

If you dont do this, then (bass-) air will simply flow from the front of the spreaker to the rear, and vice-versa, and so... no sound pressure.

For isolation, I used the foam that you buy in DIY shops to isolate pipes for heat-loss; flexible, airtight, and easy to chop-up into pieces that fit the holes around your speakers.

This should give you a vast improvement in (bass-) performance, even with original speakers installed.

I replaced the rear-speakers with better ones, and filtered these to only do bass (Pioneer radios have this nice feature... ); happy with the results of both measures taken..

Sometimes, benefits are in cheap solutions

Re: Anyone Had A Speaker Upgrade Gtv?

I went down the 6.5 component route for the Fronts - bought Hertz HSK165

Bought some MDF Spacer rings off EBAY for a few pounds, took a hacksaw to the bottom of the door card and all done, The sound is lightyears ahead of what I had before. The previous owner also installed a small JL 6.5 inch sub with Kenwood 300w amp in the cubby hole - I have a Spider. The sub really needs to be boxed as the cubby hole is too large but I haven't got around to it yet.

Honestly fitting 6.5's in place of the original 5x7 was very easy and with the door cards on you would never know visually that they have been changed.

There is much more choice in 6.5 so I would recommend that you consider this option as the sound that you will get will be much better than what you can get with 5x7

How much?!

I'll be looking for some £29.99 Pioneers or something similar!
