Re: Help required, GTV TS: Gearbox Oil Change
The recommended oil is Tutela ZC 75 but they changed the spec on that from 75W90 to 75W80. The dealer told me that it was still the one to go for. I got it anyway and have been using that for a couple of weeks. Everything seems fine and oilman advised me there would be no problems but yeah the Tecnics is 75W85 so that is deffo fine. You will need 2 bottles.
I'm pretty sure any decent fully synthetic 75W90 would do the job but Tutela (whoever they are) obviously had a linkup with Alfa at the time.
Only sticking point in the oil change is taking out the drain plug. It's hidden towards the back of the box and there is very little room to get a tool in. Think I ended up using a 12mm to 10mm allen bit then getting a ratchetting spanner (after beinding a 10mm standard spanner), putting a big bit of box section over it to get some leverage and hitting it with a foopin big hammer. Only way the bugger was turning!
oooo Edit: Think you need to make sure the oil is API GL5 so it has the right additives - forgot to mention this!
