Re: Help with my GTV purchase please
Right OK, I bitten the Alfa bullet and gone with my heart - my mind constantly giving me doubts - and put a small deposit on the car I've linked above.
I spoke to the dealer who is replacing a cracked indicator lens and adding 12 months MOT and TAX to the car. He also gave me the number for the Alfa service garage who have undertaken all servicing (and most MOT's) since new. I gave them a call and all their information corresponds with what the dealer told me. They have no outstanding recommended repairs; the latest service - which included the belt change, exhaust, discs etc - cost just over £2500.
Saturday morning I'll be taking my friend (a top-notch engineer and Alfa lover) to look at everything outside of paintwork and tyres. I've already managed to get £250 off the price, so with the new MOT and TAX I'll hopefully be getting a great buy!
Wish me luck.
Thanks for everyone's help and advice.
EDIT: I forgot....the Alfa service guy said his notes stated an ECU alert with the Airbag light coming on, saying the ECU may need replacing. Upon calling the dealer back with this information, he said he knew of this and the problem was actually due to a low charged battery, causing an error to register on the ECU. It's been reset and apparently all is well. Does this sound likely or am I getting dealer bull****?
