Re: Hello everyone, Got a possible phase sensor problem! Help!!
The sensor itself is only about £60 from a factor (or £120-ish from a dealer).
The bad news is that it sits behind the exhaust cam sprocket, and to change it will require a complete strip-down of the timing belts again.
There is a metal ring at the back of the sprocket that runs between the 'jaws' of the sensor. If the garage has bent this, even by only a mm or so, it will have hit the sensor and damaged it.
Having said that, there's no reason why they would have been near the exhaust sprocket, unless they were holding it in place with a non-standard tool for some reason.
I'd suggest getting someone to take the top cambelt cover off and seeing if they can spot any tell-take strike marks on the sprocket ring.
You could also check that the sensor is plugged in. I'll take a pic of it in a minute and post it up.
