Re: Dead GTV
Just a quick update. I took it to All Italia Nr Wrexham and they manage to correctly diagnose and repair the fault in 2 days. Apparently it was the air mass flow meter. About £300 all in to repair. On the GTV V6, this can cause the car to just cut out, unlike other Alfas that run rough. I also asked whether or not it was necessary to replace both the crank angle sensor and cam shaft sensor, apparently not. So I’ve been invoiced by the first garage for two sensors that didn’t require replacing and if they had the correct diagnostic tools (as oppose to changing what might have been the problem) I would have had my car back (a) working (b) within a reasonable time frame. Advice needed on what to do with the first invoice needed!! I’m not happy paying for parts that didn’t need replacing or the time scale in which my car wasn’t fixed. Is it a trading standards issue?
