Dodgy GTV alarm/sensor (bonnet)

A recurring problem I've been having relates to the alarm. When driving, the dashboard sometimes indicates that the bonnet is unsecured (via the little red light/icon) and this tends to relate to road bumps etc. Also, when locking the car and activating the alarm, sometimes it won't set unless I press the bonnet down and at other times (usually) it sets and then goes off in the middle of the night!

At the weekend I stripped the front down and found the bonnet sensor (mounted under the right hand slam plate), detatched it and cleaned the switch and refitted it; so far, so good with no recurring problems.

I'm not sure that I've cured the problem for good though and before this happens again, I thought I'd ask if anyone had experienced similar problems and found different cures?

Re: Dodgy GTV alarm/sensor (bonnet)

There is only one switch for the bonnet, this is used for the alarm and bonnet open indication and is located on the N/S part of the slam panel, (Right hand side as you look at the car), so it sounds if you have cured the problem, the only other thing it could be is that the bonnet may not be making good contact with the switch. (Bonnet Adjustment)
