Re: What's a set of Keys Worth?
At the end of the day, it should be up to the buyer to check the car over fully.
It might sound harsh, but he has had the car for a couple of weeks now, and like you say another £500 of repairs have appeared since you sold the car, so IMO he is in the wrong.
I am not 100% sure what you could do, technically he has stolen your keys, so maybe the police might be able to help?
A few years back I sold a 146Ti, and foolishly took a cheque for the final £150 of payment. A couple of days later the buyer phoned me to say that the electric rear windows had failed (they worked perfectly when I sold the car), so that they would be stopping the cheque. I was not happy, however I got even. After selling the car the service history turned up along with the dark red master key ( I advertised the car without). Did I pass them on? Did I heck, and I made sure the buyer knew that they were going in the bin.
You will never be cool driving a Vauxhall.
