GTV Headlights...........

Hi All,

The headlights on my 2003 GTV are rubbish......... Is this a GTV thing ????

I guess one option is to replace the bulbs with super bright ones.......... But which ones are the best ???? .......... Went to Halfords and they have loads ranging from "Boy Racer Blue" to the "Colin McCrae illegal rally ones"........

Any suggestions welcome????

Thanks To All

Re: GTV Headlights...........

Yep, it's a GTV thing!

I tried with the '50% brighter' bulbs, blue tinted ones etc, but all they seemed to do was glare more; they looked brighter but when it came to it I couldn't really see any better for it.

Then I tried a HID kit, which really did make a significant improvement. Very simple to fit and you can get some good deals on the 'bay. Have a look at this thread:
Post No 38 is worth a read before you do anything with HIDs though.

General consensus is that 6000k colour temp is about right, and LED sidelights will complete the look very nicely. This is what I did and I have to say that it is very smart indeed, and night visibility is much, much better now, though still wanting at times.

Re: GTV Headlights...........

I had exactly the same problem with mine - I ended up going for the HID option too from - ideal, not cheap but a proper Plug and play option. most impressed with the quality of the kit, got to be honest the light output from the Kit is bloomin amazing too.

Problem is, they're so bright, they make the unlit portions of the road really dark - which means I've adjusted them upwards to compensate. I haven't been flashed by anyone, but it's not a nice feeling driving around in a fabulously bright pool of light worrying about everyone coming towards you.

I feel I'm not as completely foolish as fitting them to a standard light, at least they're behind projector lenses on the GTV, and I did spend weeks agonising over the best option for me. If anything, I wish i'd ordered the 4200k (or 4300, can't remember) o.e temp. Elements.

Mine are 6k 9005.
