Ok so my GTV looked great but had the issue of old scabby looking Badges. The front badge is really easy to change over. In fact there are about four steps. Step one applies to the boot too!
1. Go to Alfa Romeo Parts and Alfa Romeo Spares from EB Spares - Specialist Alfa Parts Dealers
and buy the badges you need. They will send you the right part at a good price
2. Remove the grill as it's easy (three screws) then gently prise the old badge off.
3.Clean the black gunk off (use meths) and stick the new badge on.
4. Stand back and admire the difference. The go and treat yourself to a beer.
Right now onto the rear boot badge...
Mine looked a right state, in fact it was almost totally gold which is not as good as it sounds. See here:
1/ First off you will need a beer. Then pop the boot and remove the clips that hold the boot carpet on. There are two types of clip. If you don't have a trim removal tool then use a slightly modified fork. (Don't let the Girlfriend/Wife/Mum etc catch you nicking the fork)
2/ Go back into the house and put the knackered fork back into the cutlery drawer. Whilst in the kitchen you might as well grab a beer.
3/ You will see that the badge is held on by only one long pin. This is held in place by a circlip:
4/ Carefully remove the circlip by prising it off using a small flat headed screwdriver or long nosed pliers. Be careful you don't drop it! Also i believe there might be a spring involved? I don't know because mine had no spring!
5/ When the circlip is removed the old badge should just slide right out. Don't lose the rubber washer as you remove it. Here's a picture showing all the bits:
6/ You left the new badge in the fridge to keep cool. Go and fetch it, also it would be rude not to snag a beer while your at it.
7/ Here's a picture showing the lock with no badge. You can see the hole the badge pin should locate into:
Refit is the opposite of removal.
Stand back and admire your handywork. Might be an idea to celebrate with a beer too
[FYI mode on] I realise its and easy job but sometimes a picture paints a thousand words or something.. Hope this helps a bit. Also i don't know why two of the pictures are on their sides. They uploaded correctly?
Don't follow my steps then go for a drive!
[/FYI mode off]
[Edit] Some people might have washed the car before
taking pictures...but that's too much like hard work. (and a waste of beer drinking time)
