Strange noise when turning the wheel

I've only had my Spider a couple of weeks and I've noticed a strange knocking which I can feel through the wheel while slow manouvering. No issues with handling and the noise is bnot apparent unless the wheel is turned 1/4 turn.

I spent last night with my head in the footwell and feet in the air (thank god I bought a spider!) looking for the problem and got a suprise!

I've discovered that the steering collumn (which has a cloverleaf cross section) is rubbing against one of the top links of the brake pedal leaving a scratch on the column and making the noise.

I'm not too suprised about this (the car being italian and all) but has anyone experienced this before and what did it take to fix it? I'm worried that eventually the brake pedal might get damaged causing a safety issue.

Many thanks,
