Re: Lack of Compression, Died on way home
details are a little ropey at the mo,
Its the quick diagnosis of the RAC and a local mechanic on loss of compression.
The engine was flooded a couple of months ago, with no apparent damage,
although it has been drinking oil. I say no apparent damage, but the car did develop a high tick-over up to 2500rpm at first which steadily came down with driving and a new maf and the introduction of a pipercross cone filter, higher up the engine bay to prevent future water ingress. When this happened there was very bad emulsified oil so water must have passed the wrong way past somthing back then.
recent driving has been alright, but there has been an obvious lack of power before 4000rpm, not really been getting the performance i have expected, but have been making allowances for it age.
Today, as it happened im pretty certain i heard a noise like fluid being sprayed from somewhere under pressure, (same sort of noise when i ruptured a power steering hose previously). there was no water in the oil, or oil in the water by checking the dipstick and oil filler cap and dipping the water box.
Engine would visibly turn but just would not start, not even try...
The mechanic is going to compression check the cylinders tomorrow.
I miss her already
