I've actually just checked the original wheels and the following is stamped on them - 61/2 J 16h2 30.5
So i would imagine the latter relates to the offset, although I'd still like confirmation! If you search for the 'Tyre and Wheel' bible on google you will get a wealth of info.
Assuming that the offset is 30.5, then the 38et wheels i've seen will have too much variance, although fitting a wider 7" wheel might counteract a bit of the 'inboard' effect with regard to the look on the car, moving the wheels in too far might cause chafing on the inner arches and effect the handling, unless spacers are a viable option.
But I have to change those wheels 'cos I reckon they don't do the rest of the car justice!
