Clutch problem

Have 1996/97 GTV 2.0 T spark

Clutch doesnt seem to engage did it a week ago and repeated a week later (thought it hated fridays as it happened then) now ive got in it and it wont engage at all.

Ive looked in engine and i have fluid and the master cylinder isnt leaking and the arm is moving when clutch is being pressed.

The gears do go into there slots when engine not running.

Any ideas of what im missing/what should i be checking(basic machanics only)

Re: Clutch problem

The usual culprit for clutch problems is the Slave cylinder leaking. You appear to have checked this but please double check, remember that you should never have to Top Up the fluid in this and if you have it indicates you have a problem somewhere.

Other than that I'm sorry but have no other suggestions.

Good Luck.

Re: Clutch problem

Just letting people know what was wrong

One of the springs had worked loose and was jamming the main bit and fly wheel

I had phoned for quotes and they ranged from 316 from mr clutch and about 1000 from nationwide autos.
Alfa dealers ranged from 500-800

So i brought a clutch for 130 and a mechanic and myself spent 2 days on her

Hard graft it was but satisfying when done couldnt let her out of my sight so this was the only way to keep an eye on the work.

Now she is better im giving her a wash to get those grubby little finger prints off and a run up the M3.
