I have had my GTV for a couple of years now, and have always loved the performace and acceleration it had, however the power on it seems to have died, when i start it now the i have to get it to about 2500 revs before letting the clutch out or it just crawls off at a ridiculously low speed. Once I am going then the power delivery is patchy at best. I've looked at the MAF/AFM diagnosing a problem page and that seems to say the problem is usually at about 5000 rpm, the power on mine is an issue right through the power band. For example, i'l knock it into second gear, the car will start to pull with that GTV feel from 1500 - 2500 rpm, then die and accelerate slowly up to about 3500 rpm, at which point it will pull again up to about 4500, then die again to about 5000 rpm then come to life again. Its the same in all gears except 5th which i'll come to in a minute. The rev ranges i've given are an example, as the powerbands vary, the general feel is like a subtle jerky feeling, if that isn't too contradictory to make sense.
5th gear is another problem in itself, anything in 5th lower than 3500 revs results in a high speed kangarooing effect, this could be related to the other problem, but don't know. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated, i just want to be able to enjoy driving my beloved car again.
