MAF replacement cost

Can anyone give me a quick idea how much I should be expecting to pay, at a garage, to get the MAF replaced on a 2.0 GTV?

Re: MAF replacement cost

It is a DIY job that shouldnt take you 30 minutes. If you can get the number off your existing MAF there were recently some genuine Bosch MAFs on eBay and you can fiit it yourself for less than £50 with luck.

Re: MAF replacement cost

The air flow meter costs around £130 from Shop4Parts and can be fitted in a couple of minutes.

Be careful when buying parts from eBay as some of them are not genuine and will not solve your problems.

Re: MAF replacement cost

Some of the "genuine" ones on ebay are are new Fake elements fitted to older genuine bosch housings to make them look real. Be very careful unless you are buying from a reputable seller.

Re: MAF replacement cost

Would you say that this is a reliable part, or should I go for the genuine Bosch one?

Re: MAF replacement cost

Its a risk you have to weigh up yourself I think. At the end of the day, if it doesn't work you've lost £30 + P&P..

Re: MAF replacement cost

Before you fork out money though, I would consider cleaning the MAF to save some cash. It's an easy job, there are guides here somewhere.

Re: MAF replacement cost

E.B. Spares can do them a little cheaper than 130, but they only carry the parts for Cf2/3 engines, so if yours is the earlier CF1 version ( Alloy Engine Cover) they dont list the part.
