Re: Idling at 2000 - 2500 revs, Any Ideas
i had this problem after filling my engine with water during localised flooding earlier this year, anyway,
My car is also a P1 but the 2.0 TS, although i imagine it will be the same sort of things to get it running right.
i changed my maf meter and this brough the rev range down to 1500rpm from 2000. Mafs are availble refurbed from ebay, mine cost about £40 for a refurbed one and had a two month gurantee, had it on the car for about three months now and still fine.
The second thing i did and this has cleared my idle to around 700 - 800rpm, is removed the throttle body and cleaned it thoroughly with super solve, which is an electrical water dispersant penetrator, so whatever equivalent you can get your hands on, even use petrol but as we all know at the moment its cheaper to buy gold than petrol. anyway, i cleaned the throttle body through and removed the idle actuator, just two hexagonal head set screws, inside is a delicate valve and when i sprayed this, a great load of sooty sludge came out, left to dry, re-assembled.
the car didnt go straight back down to normal idle it took a drive of about 10 - 15 miles before it was something like, and over then next couple of trips it sorted itself out.
hope that helps, let me know how you get on. be ware of the clips that hold the sensor plugs on, they like to fly all over the place and i still have at least one in my engine bay somewhere...
Failing that look in to the oxgen sensor on the exhaust or lambda sensor as its known.
