Improving radio reception

For those of you with poor radio reception, a possible solution:

For reasons that would take too long to explain I had to remove my electric aerial (which I hated anyway) and replace it with a stubby one. Unsurprisingly, the radio reception went from poor to awful as a result.

The cure is a car aerial booster. The Germans have been using them for years especially for bee sting aerials. A trawl of t'internet and fleabay reveals quite a few but they are mostly model specific for particular VWs and Audi's. They may fit or be adaptable but I wasn't sure so mine came from Westfalia (I thought they made campa vans but apparently they do other things as well) Here is the link: 12v Aerial Booster from Westfalia at our Car hi-fi inside the Car accessories shop
It has the right coax connections to fit straight on and all you have to do is tap into a permanent live. Fve minutes to fit in the boot.

Reception is improved, in spite of the silly aerial so with a full size one you really should get pretty good sound.

I have the same problem - dont seem to be able to find a booster other than one from america.
May need a suppressor to get rid of any interference?
