Re: Castrol Edge 0w-30
Well, I can’t make any scientific comments about engine flushes but according to my recent experience they probably work. My car has 90k km and I was changing oil every 10k km so twice as often as recommended. The engine is driven only on weekends and on long journeys, always more than 50km. It is run always on Shell V-Power (Optimax in UK?). I would say it should be fairly clean.
Two weeks ago I did the 90k km oil change and used the flush for the very first time in my life. When I drained the oil it was INCREDIBLY black. No sludge, homogenous liquid, but darkest black color I have ever seen. Very different from usual oil changes. So I would say the flush must have released some dirt/carbon in the engine and cleaned it a bit.
