Just purchased these after having HID for around 4 years and being thoroughly impressed, Just made the purchase of some of these, There is a difference between HID and LED
After being on the lookout for some LED for some while and being overwhelmed by various claims and marketing hype i took the plunge on these cheaper units, They were cheap and yet there spec was all exactly as the premium brands, ( Cree technology and 4000LM ) there is NO ballast and no wiring in any way, It is literally JUST fitting a bulb its just 2 min work.
There is a clear defined beam pattern so should be good for MOT there is NO purple chaved up glow to it and it IS a brighter light when on the road, Not yet been flashed so i guess there is lo leakage from the headlamps, NO dead area i can see and for the money i am very impressed,
BIggest benefit over HID is that there is NO warm up they are instantly on to full brightness, I think the main beam are HB3 so in that case i might give them a go in main beam too
I will do one latter but there is no issue with the room to get them in to the bulb area and there is loads of room around the back of these units with them in position, you have around 60 mm of room between headlamp and the space behind, These stick out around 40mm once in position
its 80w then if its quoted as that, 160 would be for the 2, Looked through the tech spec sheet that came with them and there is mention of every technical aspect of these light except the wattage, Checked the fuse is the correct one for the headlamps so if things get toasty the fuse will be first to fail ( i hope)
There you go Faffer................... more space and room on the other side behind the bulb
I am pretty confident the LED don't use 80W.
The light output is probably equivalent to a 80W halogen bulb.
Do the specification state how many lumen the bulbs give?
Was the LED bulbs shipped from UK?
I can see the seller is located in China so it sounds a bit strange
The installing looks like something even I could manage.
Mind you I've had the car just over a year and only used the headlights three times, one daytime convoy and 2 MOT's
Seen some youtube on these and it looks like it is 7200lm =80w output per lamp, very bright.
I have had LED dipped beam bulbs since last Summer (3600LM each side) and haven't had any problems with fuses or heating up. LED's do get very hot, hence the large heatsinks on the rear but they consume far less wattage than HID's or Halogens. Do it!

I have followed your lead and have just installed a pair of these. It was easy enough to do but the new bulbs seem to move a bit if manipulated. I think they may wobble when driving, which could be irritating to other drivers?
Also, the polarity meant that I had to turn the connector round the wrong way. Did you find the same?
I haven't driven with them yet but they give a nice bright white light in the garage - they make the main beam seem yellow in comparison.
Yep ,my connectors are back to front too so wont lock ,although it is quite tight.
If yours are like mine, its not the whole thing that moves a bit when manipulated, just the heatsink part, the led part is held still in exactly the same way as a standard bulb,Not very confidance inspiring as to build quality though as you have to twist it in place by holding the heatsink

Wednesday saw me use then in darkest Gloucestershire at the South West Meet, Had them on 2 hours and felt both the glass and the heat sink itself, The glass was cold and the heat sink was just mildly warm, Light output is just slightly better than my old HID although looking at the lens they do appear much brighter white but it does not translate to much more on the road from my own experiences, I think i am going to upgrade the main beam that i also believe are HB3 and see how these fare as the Main beam now are really yellow in comparison,............................ as the main beam bulb can bee seen through the glass ( unlike the dipped) i would imagine there to be a bigger improvement, I will report back when fitted
I found the same - used them for a 40 min journey and there was no significant heat.
Ref effectiveness, there was a marked improvement over the standard bulbs I had, with a better spread of light, but I'm not convinced they give much better distance so that is still a bit lacking.
Maybe it is me but I had fitted some LEDs very similar to those shown and I was completely nonplussed by them. Initially I thought they were fantastic as they were so much 'whiter' than the original nightbreakers I had, that was until I went down some completely dark country lanes. I found that although the light is whiter it seems not to penetrate the dark as well and took a lot longer making it much difficult to see ahead. I have since gone back to the OE Nightbreakers and dont have the problem any more.
Never used Nightbreakers myself, I thought the improvements from halogen to HID was a big move forward and well worth it, This was little improvement in the LED from the HID
But if i was still using halogen i would definitely recommend the LED as for £20 it is as good as 2 ordinary bulbs anyway now
I'll be selling a spare HID kit soon if anyone is interested? Put them in as full beams but decided it's not right for full beams, but fine for dipped. So reverting back to Philips halogens for full beam, hence sale. Literally a month and a half old, the London Colour kit from eBay, good quality HB3 4300K so close to OEM light colour just a bit whiter, no crappy blue sheen!
What HIDs do you recommend? Do they pass the MOT these days?
